“Armed violence in Goma: Three bodies found, the safety of residents in question”

Three bodies were discovered overnight from Sunday to Monday in two neighborhoods of the commune of Karisimbi, located in the west of the city of Goma, in the province of North Kivu.

The first incident occurred around 8 p.m. on Kitchanga Avenue, in the Mugunga district. A money changer named Ramazani Nyamwigula was shot dead outside his home by an unidentified gunman.

The second incident took place at the same time in the locality of Antenne Kabasha, in the neighboring district of Ndosho. Two young people, including a bread seller, were shot and taken to hospital.

These acts of violence have aroused concern within civil society in the commune of Karisimbi, who are calling on the provincial authorities to act to guarantee the safety of residents and put an end to the illegal possession of firearms.
