“Rise in the price of fuel in Brazzaville: Bus and taxi drivers are mobilizing to obtain assistance from the State”

The public transport sector in Brazzaville is facing a worrying situation, following the increase in fuel prices. Bus and taxi drivers temporarily suspended their activity to demonstrate their dissatisfaction with the measure taken by the government. According to their union, the suspension of the road tax only benefits employers in the sector, leaving employees without any benefits.

This situation prompted union officials to organize an emergency meeting to discuss the situation and find solutions. At this meeting, it was decided that drivers of buses, taxis and other means of public transport should be enrolled in order to constitute an exhaustive file. This file will allow drivers to benefit from state assistance.

The president of the union of transporters and related activities of Congo, Cyrille Ndzoundou, specified that “in our country, there is nowhere a file of transporters operating in the sector.” He therefore called on all drivers concerned to provide proof of their activity, such as their driving license and the registration document of the vehicle they are using.

This enrollment operation will be carried out by the Congolese Employment Agency (ACPE) throughout the country. It aims to create a complete file of bus and taxi drivers in order to guarantee better management of their needs by the State.

This initiative raises hopes among bus and taxi drivers, who finally see an opportunity to get assistance to cope with rising fuel prices. However, it is important to note that enrollment does not automatically guarantee financial benefits, but it is a first step towards better recognition and protection of drivers’ interests.

In conclusion, the suspension of the driving tax and the creation of a registration file for bus and taxi drivers in Brazzaville are measures taken by the government in response to the increase in fuel prices. These measures aim to help drivers cope with this difficult situation. Hopefully this will improve their working conditions and guarantee their financial security.
