“Osun Governor Promises to Improve Lives of Traditional Rulers in Strategy Meeting”

Adeleke, Governor of Osun State, recently held a strategic meeting with traditional rulers in the state to discuss improving their welfare and strengthening collaboration between government and traditional rulers. During this meeting, the governor highlighted the importance of traditional leaders in his administration and their key role in socio-economic development at the local level.

According to Governor Adeleke, traditional leaders are the custodians of culture and have a deep affinity with their people. He stressed that, in Africa, productive collaboration with traditional leaders was the key to successful governance. With this in mind, the governor promised to improve the health conditions of traditional rulers by providing medical support and exploring the possibility of enrolling them in health insurance, just as has been done for pensioners in the state.

The governor also highlighted his commitment to meeting the needs of traditional rulers, including increasing sitting allowances and exploring the possibility of acquiring new cars for traditional rulers in the state. Furthermore, he said his administration would construct a secretariat of the Council of Obas (traditional leaders) which would be fully equipped.

However, Adeleke also urged traditional rulers to continue to support him by providing him with advice for economic development and correcting him when he made mistakes. He said their collaboration was essential to the success of his administration.

The meeting was chaired by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, who is the Chairman of the Osun State Obas Council. Oba Ogunwusi expressed satisfaction with the collaboration between the governor and the Obas Council, highlighting the achievements of the governor in good governance and service delivery to the people.

In conclusion, this meeting between Governor Adeleke and traditional rulers of Osun State is testimony to the importance given to traditional rulers in the socio-economic development of the region. The governor expressed his commitment to meeting the needs of traditional leaders and strengthening their collaboration with the government.
