During a recent intervention, Joëlle Bile Batali, candidate for the presidential election in the Democratic Republic of Congo, welcomed the re-election of Félix Tshisekedi for a second term. According to her, this re-election represents an opportunity for the President to consolidate the achievements of his first five-year term and to contribute to the development of the DRC.

Joëlle Bile Batali, former journalist, recalled that her withdrawal in favor of Félix Tshisekedi was motivated by her conviction that the outgoing President was the man capable of bringing the necessary influence to the DRC. She expressed her satisfaction with the provisional results obtained during the election, despite her withdrawal in favor of Félix Tshisekedi.

The candidate also underlined the importance of strengthening the actions already undertaken during the first term. She called on Félix Tshisekedi to consolidate the achievements and continue the development trajectory to bring the DRC towards emergence.

The re-election of Félix Tshisekedi as head of the DRC for the next five years was announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI). The outgoing President obtained 73.34% of the votes cast during the presidential election of December 20, 2023. However, this re-election was contested by certain candidates, who denounce fraud and demand a reorganization of the elections.

In accordance with the electoral law, appeals will be studied by the Constitutional Court. Despite the protests, Joëlle Bile Batali welcomed the end of the political battles and expressed her confidence in the ability of Félix Tshisekedi to put the DRC back on the right path to development.
