“Women in politics: how to generate support and convince with determination”

Women in politics: how to assert yourself and convince?

In a country where female representation in politics remains low, the recent presidential elections clearly demonstrate the challenges faced by women candidates. While many candidates achieved high scores, no candidate has managed to get more than 20% of the vote so far.

It is important to emphasize that women have all the potential necessary to succeed in politics, but they must also deserve the trust of the people. According to Vanessa Mbangu, a science student at the University of Kinshasa, some candidates seemed superficial in their approach and did not show the determination needed to convince voters.

For Murielle Moleka, a graduate in political and administrative sciences, it is crucial for women to get involved with the people and advocate for their well-being. Denouncing what is contrary to the general interest is also an effective strategy for gaining the trust of voters.

However, some female politicians have used their femininity in counterproductive ways. Joëlle Bile, for example, focused her speeches on being a woman and bringing a first female president. To some people, this made his candidacy seem lacking in substance and not focused enough on problems and solutions.

It is essential for women candidates to show real determination and know precisely what they want to achieve in politics. Julie Konde, a street vendor, believes that some candidates came into politics without any real political foundation. She emphasizes the importance of being consistent and committed to becoming the hope of a people.

In the results published so far by the CENI, Félix Tshisekedi is in the lead with more than 80% of the votes from a small number of voters. This shows the need for women to stand out and make their voices heard convincingly.

To do this, it is essential to get actively involved in communities, listen to and understand citizens’ concerns, develop relevant and thoughtful policy proposals, and show real determination to achieve the well-being of all.

Women have the potential to play a vital role in politics, and it is crucial to create opportunities and support their engagement. Together, with determination and conviction, they can assert themselves and convince the people of their ability to lead and bring positive change for all.
