“Violent repression during an opposition march in the DRC: Moïse Katumbi denounces a sham election”

Candidate number 3 in the last presidential elections in the DRC, Moïse Katumbi, reacted strongly to the repression during the march organized by a section of the opposition to protest against the “irregularities” observed during the December 20 election.

In a post on the social network He strongly condemned the violent repression to which the population was subjected, deploring the shootings and the indiscriminate violence of the police.

Moïse Katumbi expressed his compassion for the injured and victims of the dictatorship, affirming that cheating, fraud and lies will not pass. He announced that this first march would be followed by other actions throughout the country, stressing that the Congolese people are determined to take back control of their destiny.

For his part, the divisional police commissioner of the city of Kinshasa, General Blaise Kilimbambalimba, affirmed that the response of the police was justified due to the behavior of the organizer of the march, who would have persisted despite warnings. He also highlighted the presence of disruptive elements in the march, who would have intensified stone throwing and caused insecurity.

This police repression during the opposition march in Kinshasa arouses strong indignation and marks a turning point in the political situation in the DRC. The injured and victims of this repression testify to the courage and determination of the Congolese people to peacefully defend freedom and democracy.

It remains to be seen what the opposition’s next actions will be and how the government will react to this growing protest. In the meantime, the Congolese population faces many political and social challenges, and it is essential that all stakeholders engage in constructive and peaceful dialogue to find lasting solutions to the country’s problems.
