“Victory against secret brotherhoods and drug trafficking in Ilesa: arrest of several suspects by the Amotekun Corps”

In a recent statement, Brigadier General Bashir Adewinmbi, Osun State Amotekun Corps Commander, announced the arrest of several suspects between Thursday and Monday. Some of them were involved in the attack on staff of the Amotekun anti-cult team last Saturday.

These arrests took place during patrols aimed at maintaining order during the Iwude Ijesa celebration in Ilesa. Those arrested include Kareem Ojo, 32, Adedamola Salamo, 26, Olatunji Ezekiel, 24, Adeyeye Adekunle, 33, and Tope Oguntade, 35, on suspicion of belonging to a secret brotherhood and selling drugs to Ilesa.

Three other individuals, Adetunde Adeolu, Ajayi Wale and Busuyi Ojo, were also arrested on Monday. Ojo, a suspected member of the Eiye brotherhood, was arrested in possession of two cartridges, several amulets and other dangerous weapons.

During interrogations, the suspects confessed to belonging to the Aiye and Eiye brotherhoods for a long time. They had also been wanted by the Osun Police Anti-Cultism Unit for some time.

These arrests are a victory in the fight against the activities of secret brotherhoods and drug trafficking in the Ilesa region. The Amotekun Corps and the Osun Police will continue to work together to ensure the safety and well-being of the people of the area.

He said they were apprehended while on patrol to forest all law and order during the Iwude Ijesa Celebration in Ilesa Town. He said three others, Adetunde Adeolu, Ajayi Wale and Busuyi Ojo were also arrested on Monday, with Ojo (Eiye Confraternity hitman) arrested with two live cartridge bullets, some charms and other dangerous weapons.

“During cross-examination, the suspects confessed to being members of Aiye and Eiye confraternities and they have been members of the cults for a long time.

“The suspects have also been on the wanted list of the Osun Police Anti-Cultism Unit for a very long time before luck ran against them”. He said.
