News: No overmilitarization in Lubumbashi according to the Minister of the Interior
The Minister of Interior, Security and Customary Affairs of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Peter Kazadi Kankonde, held a press conference this Tuesday, December 26 to clarify the situation regarding the deployment of armed forces in the city of Lubumbashi , located in the Haut-Katanga province.
According to the minister, this is not an overmilitarization, but rather a strategic deployment aimed at securing this part of the country. He points out that the armed forces have trained new recruits and now is the time to position them to ensure the security of the territory. He insists that there is no particular fear for Lubumbashi or Haut-Katanga, but that this is simply a normal measure taken by all armies in the world.
The minister also announced that people responsible for acts of vandalism have already been arrested and will be brought to justice. He affirms that all measures have been taken to ensure peace in the face of both internal and external threats. He warns of connections between internal actors and external enemies and asserts that the Congolese population is mature and awaits election results without chaos.
This declaration aims to reassure the population regarding the increased presence of armed forces in the Lubumbashi region. The minister emphasizes the strategic nature of this deployment and the fact that it aims to guarantee the security and stability of the region. It also underlines the government’s desire to prosecute those responsible for acts of violence and guarantee them a fair trial.
This clarification from the Minister of the Interior attempts to dispel fears regarding a possible militarization of the Lubumbashi region. It highlights the need to train new recruits and position them strategically to ensure the security of the country. The Congolese population is therefore called upon to remain confident in the actions undertaken by the government to maintain peace and stability.
