“The Kinshasa International Fair (FIKIN): An unmissable event to discover the emerging Congo”

The Kinshasa International Fair (FIKIN) is a major event that attracts a large number of visitors each year. This year, due to reconstruction work on its usual site, FIKIN organized its fairground edition instead of the Limete interchange. Since December 10, families have been flocking in droves to enjoy the many attractions and exhibitions on offer.

The theme of this 45th edition of FIKIN is “FIKIN 2023, socio-economic and cultural renaissance for an emerging Congo”. This event aims to promote the economic growth and cultural development of the country.

On site, children have the chance to have fun with a wide variety of games and fun activities. From swings to vehicle games to leapfrogs, children are delighted by this entertainment.

However, on the merchant side, the atmosphere is less joyful. Mam Diarra, a seller of rich basins from Senegal, complains about the few customers she has received at her stand. Despite affordable prices, it struggles to sell its products. This situation highlights the challenges faced by traders during this event.

Despite this, FIKIN continues until January 10, 2024, still offering visitors plenty of opportunities to experience the exhibition stands, enjoy the games and participate in various activities. This event represents a showcase for local businesses and traders, and thus contributes to the promotion of the country’s economy.

In conclusion, the Kinshasa International Fair is an important event that arouses the enthusiasm of Congolese families. Although there are challenges for traders, FIKIN remains an unmissable event to discover the latest economic and cultural trends in Congo.
