The city of Kherson, located in southern Ukraine, was once again the target of Russian strikes this weekend. These attacks, which took place on Saturday and Sunday, left four dead according to the regional governor.
The regional governor, Oleksandr Prokudin, deplored these attacks in a message published on Telegram. He said the Russian army shelled the city center of Kherson last night. A shell hit a residential building, killing an 87-year-old man and his 81-year-old wife. Another town resident, aged 54, was injured and suffered head trauma and leg injuries.
Russian strikes were not limited to downtown Kherson. Emergency services also discovered the body of a dead man in the rubble. In total, these attacks left four dead and nine injured, including a child.
It is important to emphasize that Kherson has been regularly bombed since its recapture by Ukrainian forces in November 2022. Located on the other side of the Dnieper River, which marks the front line, the city has become a major target for the Russian army .
In addition to these ground attacks, the Ukrainian Air Force also intercepted several explosive drones launched by Russia overnight. This new form of threat adds even more tension to the already extremely precarious situation in the region.
These new attacks once again highlight the need for international intervention to put an end to this conflict. Civilians in Kherson and other Ukrainian cities are held hostage by incessant shelling and must live in constant fear for their safety.
It is also essential to condemn these Russian attacks which deliberately target residential areas, medical facilities and vital infrastructure. The material damage is considerable and has a serious impact on the daily lives of residents.
In conclusion, it is urgent to find a diplomatic solution in order to put an end to this deadly conflict in Ukraine. The civilian population should not be the victim of political ambitions and military aggression. The international community must act quickly to protect the lives and safety of Ukrainian civilians.
