Introduction :
As part of its commitment to provide financial assistance to the most vulnerable populations, the Ondo State Conditional Cash Transfer Program has registered new beneficiaries. During a training in Akure, Tosin Olupona, the Program Coordinator, announced that over 12,000 people have already benefited from the program since 2019. Through this initiative, selected participants will receive monthly financial support for a period ranging from three months to a year, in order to mitigate the effects of economic reality on their situation.
Financial support for the most vulnerable:
The Ondo State Conditional Cash Transfer Program aims to provide financial assistance to the poorest people, without any political or ethnic distinction. Beneficiaries are selected based on a detailed analysis of their socio-economic profile. Some of them will receive a monthly stipend of N25,000 for a period of three months, while others will receive a stipend of N10,000 every month, for at least a year.
An extension of the program to touch more lives:
The program has enjoyed great success since its launch and is now being expanded under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu. The number of people benefiting from the program will increase significantly, in order to positively impact the lives of the people in the 18 local areas of Ondo State. Local facilitators, numbering 142, were trained to register and capture potential beneficiaries based on data provided by the National Office of Monetary Transfers.
Judicious use of the money received:
The program coordinator, Tosin Olupona, stressed the importance of beneficiaries using the money received wisely. Financial support must be used to improve their daily lives and meet their essential needs such as food and healthcare. Olupona recalled that there are already many positive testimonies of how this program has enabled beneficiaries to sustain themselves and improve their quality of life.
