Press release from the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI): Removal of candidate posters before the combined ballots
The Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) recently published a press release in which it called for the removal of all candidate posters twenty-four hours before the combined polls in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
In the press release, the CENI underlines the importance of maintaining an impartial and neutral environment during the elections. She therefore asks independent candidates, parties and political groups to remove all their posters located within a 100 meter radius of the voting center. This measure aims to ensure fairness between the different candidates and to avoid any last-minute influence on voters.
At the same time, the CENI also reminds voters not to wear clothes with patterns, colors or logos of political parties or effigies of presidents or candidates when they go to the polls. This measure aims to guarantee respect for the secrecy of the vote and to prevent any attempt to influence the choice of voters.
It is important to note that the electoral campaign officially ends on Monday, December 18 at midnight, in accordance with the electoral law in force. The CENI therefore urges all candidates and political parties to respect this deadline and comply with the established rules.
In conclusion, the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) reminds all Congolese citizens of the importance of participating in the electoral process in peace and the best interests of the Republic. Compliance with these measures will help ensure free, transparent and democratic elections.
