North Kivu is the scene of the electoral campaign of presidential candidate Adolphe Muzito. The latter made important announcements concerning the increase in civil servants’ salaries and the rehabilitation of roads.
During his speech, Adolphe Muzito unveiled his governance program over a period of 10 years, with colossal funding of 300 billion US dollars. He pledged to gradually increase the salaries of state agents and civil servants. Thus, in the 5 years following his accession to the highest office, the salary of the lowest-ranking civil servant would increase from 100 US dollars to 300 US dollars. After 10 years, it would even reach the sum of 500 US dollars.
The objective of this measure is to give the most vulnerable people greater purchasing power, thus creating a virtuous circle of consumption by promoting economic exchanges at the local level. Adolphe Muzito believes that the money of wealthy people often goes abroad, while that of less fortunate people circulates more within the country. Therefore, by increasing wages, workers will be able to support sectors such as shoe shiners, restaurants or hairdressers, thus providing increased economic opportunities for these professions.
In addition to his announcements on salaries, Adolphe Muzito also emphasized the need to rehabilitate and build roads to connect the different regions of the country. In the context of North Kivu, a region affected by insecurity due to the activism of armed groups, the candidate stressed the importance of investing in the army and providing it with the necessary means to guarantee security.
This campaign by candidate President of the Republic Adolphe Muzito in North Kivu highlights concrete promises in terms of improving the living conditions of civil servants and developing infrastructure. These announcements underline its commitment to local populations and its desire to combat socio-economic inequalities.
It now remains to be seen how these proposals will be received by voters and what concrete actions will be implemented if Adolphe Muzito is elected President of the Republic.
