Title: Installation of a Solar Mini-Grid and improvement of health infrastructure in Jigawa State
Introduction :
Jigawa State, Nigeria, is firmly committed to improving its health infrastructure. During the meeting of the State Executive Council, chaired by Governor Umar Namadi, several decisions were taken in this direction. These include the approval of funds for the installation of a Solar Mini-Grid at Dutse General Hospital and the continuation of construction and rehabilitation works of 33 Small Towns Water Supply Schemes in 14 constituencies. These measures demonstrate the State’s commitment to improving the quality of health care provided to its population.
Improved power supply at Dutse General Hospital:
In a bid to improve the efficiency of healthcare at Dutse General Hospital, the State Executive Council has approved the installation of a Solar Mini-Grid. This project will ensure continuous and reliable power supply for the hospital. The sum of ₦172,754,158.00 was allocated for this work. The move is in line with efforts by Governor Umar Namadi to modernize general hospitals in the state and improve health care delivery.
Improving access to drinking water in small towns:
In addition to the installation of the Solar Mini-Grid, the Executive Council also approved ₦324.8 million for the construction, rehabilitation and upgrading of 33 Small Towns Water Supply Schemes spread across 14 constituencies. This project aims to provide stable access to clean water in small towns, thereby improving the health and hygiene of local communities. This initiative demonstrates the importance given by Jigawa State to improving the living conditions of its population.
Fumigation chamber for the Maigatari Export Processing Zone:
The Executive Council also approved the construction of a fumigation chamber at the Maigatari Export Processing Zone, located in the Maigatari local district. This measure aims to strengthen infection control measures and ensure the health safety of exported products. This decision reflects the State’s desire to support commerce and industry while preserving public health.
