Raising awareness on respect for electoral law in Maniema
Respect for electoral law is a cornerstone of democracy. However, it is sometimes neglected or ignored by certain state and non-state actors. This is why an awareness workshop was recently organized by the Coalition of Women Leaders and CRONGD/Maniema, with the facilitation of Professor Casimir Ngumbi Kitete.
The objective of this workshop was to recall the importance of respecting electoral rules, as well as to promote democratic culture and political alternation. Professor Kitete, a doctor of political and administrative science, insisted that electoral competition is a social activity that requires respect for the rules, just like a football match where teams must comply with the rules to hope to achieve victory. .
He also stressed that the ongoing electoral process in the Democratic Republic of Congo should not divide citizens, but rather bring them together in mutual respect and tolerance. According to him, the internalization of democratic culture is essential to guarantee free and fair elections, and to preserve the unity of the country.
This awareness workshop allowed participants to deepen their knowledge of electoral law and to discuss good practices in respecting the rules. He also encouraged state and non-state actors to actively engage in the electoral process, ensuring that each step is carried out in compliance with laws and democratic principles.
In conclusion, this awareness workshop on respect for the electoral law in Maniema was an important opportunity to remind state and non-state actors of the importance of respecting the rules in the electoral process. He also underlined the importance of democratic culture and political alternation to guarantee free and fair elections. Through this awareness, it is hoped that all actors involved in the electoral process will play their role in respecting the laws and maintaining national cohesion.
