News: Hamas deploys sophisticated new tactics in southern Gaza Strip
Hamas, the Palestinian Islamist movement, has developed “new, more sophisticated tactics” since the end of the ceasefire with Israel, according to the Institute for the Study of War. Experts have noted that the group is now using more anti-tank munitions and explosive drones in its battles against the Israeli army.
The Institute for the Study of War reports that Hamas has been using explosive penetrating charges (PEF) since the end of the “pause” in fighting. These weapons, which are used to penetrate armor or fortifications, are manufactured locally in Gaza.
Additionally, since December 1, Hamas has also launched explosive drones at Israeli forces. Although Hamas’ use of explosive drones has been spotted previously, it is still difficult to determine their actual effectiveness in combat.
Some experts, however, doubt the extent of the evolution of Hamas’ tactics. Although these new tactics have been observed, they do not yet appear to be widespread. It is therefore too early to conclude on the real sophistication of the group’s combat methods.
However, this development in Hamas’s tactics could indicate a stronger desire to confront the Israeli army and stand up to the pressure exerted by it. It could also mean a deeper shift in Hamas’ strategy, which would seek to use more modern weapons and munitions to defend its position in the southern Gaza Strip.
In conclusion, although Hamas’s tactical developments in the south of the Gaza Strip have been observed, it is still too early to draw definitive conclusions. Nonetheless, it is clear that the Islamist group is seeking to adapt and use more sophisticated weapons to defend its positions.
