Modeste Bahati denounces international complicity towards Félix Tshisekedi during a meeting in Goma
Modeste Bahati, president of the Senate and moral authority of the political party “Alliance of Democratic Forces for Congo” (AFDC), strongly criticized the complicity of the international community towards the president candidate Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo during a popular meeting in Goma . According to him, certain great powers support the enemies of the Democratic Republic of Congo, but this complicity will not go unnoticed.
In his speech to a large and diverse crowd, made up of AFDC-A sympathizers and activists, Modeste Bahati affirmed that the population must count on Félix Tshisekedi to bring peace to the east of the country. He notably declared that the current president would put an end to the activities of the M23 rebels and that he had already worked hard to promote peace in the region.
The President of the Senate also supported the candidacy of Félix Tshisekedi for a second term, emphasizing his firm position vis-à-vis the aggression of the DRC by Rwanda. According to Modeste Bahati, it is time to see how the country will be run over the next five years and to trust Félix Tshisekedi for his ability to defend the interests of the Republic.
Furthermore, Modeste Bahati took advantage of this meeting to present the candidates of the AFDC and AFDC-A political groups, under his supervision. He called on the population to support these candidates, presenting them as people capable of working for the development of the DRC. He also encouraged the population of North Kivu to give a warm welcome to the Head of State during his next visit to the region.
In conclusion, Modeste Bahati called on the population to believe in Félix Tshisekedi and to offer him an overwhelming majority in Parliament to allow him to carry out his projects for the country.
This intervention by Modeste Bahati during the meeting in Goma shows the determination of certain political actors to support the candidacy of Félix Tshisekedi, despite the criticism and protests surrounding the current electoral process in the DRC. The international complicity denounced by Bahati echoes concerns raised by some observers about external influence in the country’s political affairs. It now remains to be seen what impact this mobilization will have on the outcome of the upcoming elections.
