“EU electoral observation mission in the DRC: a decisive step towards transparent and democratic elections”

Observers from the European Union Election Observation Mission are already present in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in anticipation of the upcoming elections. According to Stéphane Mondon, deputy head of the mission, these observers are deployed in 17 provinces of the country. They will be reinforced by 12 short-term observers, members of the European Parliament and other observers from European Union member countries on election day.

The objective of this mission is to carry out an overall analysis of the electoral cycle and to communicate part of the results during a preliminary declaration on December 22. Stéphane Mondon calls on the Congolese population to avoid violence which will not benefit anyone during the electoral process.

This presence of European Union observers in the DRC shows the importance given by the international community to these elections. It aims to guarantee a transparent and democratic electoral process, free from any manipulation or fraud.

It is essential that international observers be present on the ground to ensure the legitimacy of electoral results and promote confidence in the democratic process. Their presence also helps to deter any attempt at violence or intimidation during the electoral period.

However, it is important to recognize that the presence of international observers cannot solve all problems related to elections. It is necessary that the Congolese authorities also take measures to guarantee free and fair elections, ensuring the security of voters and ensuring that the electoral process takes place in accordance with the law.

In conclusion, the presence of European Union observers in the DRC demonstrates the importance given to these elections. Their mission is to ensure a transparent and democratic electoral process. However, it is crucial that Congolese authorities also do their part to ensure free and fair elections.
