This recent wave of violence brings the number of victims to twelve in just five days in this region. ADF attacks have created a growing climate of insecurity, forcing many families to move to safer areas. In this article we will analyze the consequences of these attacks and the calls to the military authorities to guarantee the security of the population.

The course of the attack:

According to local testimonies, ADF rebels invaded the town of Tondoli, where the population was looking to stock up on food. By firing a few shots to sow panic, the attackers managed to take fifteen people hostage, forcing them to transport their loot. Unfortunately, a civilian was shot and died of his injuries. The ADF also burned seven houses, adding to the suffering of the population already affected by these incessant attacks.

The situation of the population:

Repeated ADF attacks have plunged the population of Banyali Tchabi into fear and insecurity. Many families who had recently returned to their villages find themselves forced to move again to safer areas, such as Baleyi and Kainama on the Beni axis. The traditional leaders of the region express their dismay at this indiscriminate violence and call on the Congolese and Ugandan armed forces to strengthen their military operations in the Tchabi region in order to guarantee the peace of the population.

The intervention of the armed forces:

Questioned by Radio Okapi, an army officer confirmed that the soldiers are pursuing the attackers in order to obtain the release of the hostages taken by the ADF. Military authorities must act quickly to put an end to these repeated attacks and guarantee the safety of local populations. Collaboration between the Congolese (FARDC) and Ugandan (UPDF) armed forces is essential to put an end to ADF activities in the Tchabi region.

Conclusion :

The deadly attacks perpetrated by ADF rebels in the chiefdom of Banyali Tchabi raise serious concerns about the security of local populations. The hostage-taking and acts of violence committed by the attackers have plunged the region into a persistent climate of insecurity. It is imperative that the Congolese and Ugandan armed forces intensify their military operations in the Tchabi region in order to protect the population and put an end to the activities of the ADF. The safety and well-being of the population must be a top priority for the relevant authorities.
