The UDPS remains determined to respect electoral deadlines and support Félix Tshisekedi

The firm determination of the UDPS to respect electoral deadlines

In a tense political context in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the presidential party, the UDPS – Union for Democracy and Social Progress -, is not weakening in its desire to respect the deadlines for the elections scheduled for December 20. This is the clear and unequivocal message that the secretary general of the UDPS, Augustin Kabuya, proclaimed during a recent meeting.

No slippage, no extension, this is the determined declaration of the UDPS. Augustin Kabuya urged his party activists to categorically reject any idea of postponing the elections. According to him, since all the presidential candidates have been accepted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) and the Constitutional Court, there is no reason to prolong the electoral process.

“To the extent that all the candidates for President of the Republic have been accepted by the CENI and the Constitutional Court, I do not see why we can talk about an extension,” declared Augustin Kabuya.

He even called on UDPS activists to be ready to spend the night in front of the CENI building in case the elections were not organized on the scheduled date. The determination of the UDPS to ensure that electoral deadlines are respected is indisputable.

A desire to give a majority to Félix Tshisekedi for a second term

Beyond the need to respect electoral deadlines, Augustin Kabuya also called on the members of his party to remain united and support current President Félix Tshisekedi. He stressed the importance of giving Félix Tshisekedi a majority in the elections, in order to allow him to serve a second term and pursue his political program.

“We must keep our band, in order to give Félix Tshisekedi a majority and a second mandate,” declared Augustin Kabuya.

This declaration highlights the desire of the UDPS to consolidate Félix Tshisekedi’s position in power and to support his political action. This also shows the importance the party places on political stability and the continuity of the government program.

In conclusion, the UDPS displays an unfailing determination to respect the electoral deadlines and to support Félix Tshisekedi. The firm determination of the presidential party not to allow an extension of the elections and to spend the night in front of the CENI in the event of a postponement demonstrates its commitment to democracy and political stability in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
