The departure of ONATRA executives and agents marks a turning point in the history of the transport sector in the DRC

The departure ceremony for executives and agents of ONATRA (National Transport Office) marked a turning point in their professional careers. Indeed, by decision of the President of the Republic, Félix Tshisekedi, a total of 1,250 employees with more than 30 years of service were sent into retirement. This decision, which is of a national nature, was welcomed by ONATRA representatives.

During the ceremony, President Tshisekedi presented a check for 21 billion Congolese francs as compensation to retirees. A sum long awaited by them since 2012. This gesture from the Head of State was seen as recognition of the efforts made by ONATRA employees throughout their careers.

The Minister of Employment, Labor and Social Security, Claudine Ndusi, also contributed to this celebration by presenting a symbolic check of 2 million US dollars to the National Social Security Fund (CNSS), in favor of retirees . This financial support aims to guarantee good living conditions for them.

The representatives of retirees expressed their gratitude to the President of the Republic for this initiative. They stressed the importance of regaining their rights and welcomed the gesture made by Félix Tshisekedi.

However, the ONATRA union delegation also took the opportunity to submit to the President specifications aimed at improving the social conditions of current ONATRA agents. This approach demonstrates the desire to guarantee optimal working conditions for employees in the transport sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

It is important to note that ONATRA is a public establishment of an industrial and commercial nature which manages an integrated transport chain, including seaports, a river port, a railway and a river network. This institution plays a crucial role in the economic development of the country.

The departure of ONATRA executives and agents marks a turning point in their professional lives, but also in the history of the transport sector in the DRC. The recognition and support granted by President Tshisekedi make it possible to envisage a promising future for this key institution of the country.
