“The deployment of electoral materials in the provinces of Grand Equateur: a race against the obstacles for successful elections”

Article: Deployment of electoral materials in the provinces of Grand Equateur

Despite the obstacles encountered on the difficult roads, the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) continues to tirelessly deploy electoral materials in the 5 provinces of Grand Equateur in preparation for the next elections.

The electronic voting kits, also known as electronic voting devices (DEV), have already been sent to all the branches of the respective territories, according to the CENI. This includes provinces such as Equateur, Mongala, North and South Ubangi, and Tshuapa.

In the South Ubangi province, for example, 536 kits were gradually transported to Gemena, Budjala, Kungu, Libenge and Zongo, as well as office kits, according to Bezard Libeke, provincial executive secretary of the CENI. This logistical operation continues with the installation of voting booths.

Nelly Ikete, provincial executive secretary of the CENI in Ecuador, affirms that operations are taking place according to the established schedule. In Greater Ecuador, level II training for members of the SEPs (Provincial Executive Secretariats), branch heads, IT specialists and national electoral trainers took place from October 28 to November 6.

However, CENI encountered transport difficulties due to the degraded state of certain roads. For example, a CENI vehicle got stuck in Bosobolo, in North Ubangi, and in Kungu, in South Ubangi. To overcome these obstacles, CENI called on motorcyclists to ensure that the equipment reached its destination.

Finally, another concern concerns the delay in the display of electoral lists in certain regions. It is essential to take steps to resolve this problem to ensure the transparency and credibility of the electoral process.

Despite these logistical challenges, CENI continues to work with determination to ensure that all equipment necessary for the elections is deployed on time. This deployment of electoral equipment is an essential step to guarantee the holding of free and fair elections in the provinces of Grand Equateur.
