“War in Gaza: total communication blackout, an ongoing humanitarian disaster”

International news is currently marked by the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The fighting is intense and the humanitarian consequences are disastrous.

The Palestinian telecommunications operator, Paltel, announced the total cutting of telephone and internet lines in the Gaza Strip. This cut deprives residents of any means of communication and access to information, making the situation even more difficult for civilians caught in the middle of this conflict.

In addition, Israeli bombings continue to cause casualties. The Israeli army announced the death of nine soldiers in the fighting in Gaza, bringing to 326 the total number of soldiers killed since the start of the conflict. Many Palestinian civilians also lost their lives, notably in the bombing of the largest refugee camp in the Gaza Strip.

Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the bombing of the Jabaliya refugee camp, denouncing the inhumane targeting of Israeli forces. The international community is witnessing this escalation of violence and the suffering inflicted on innocent civilians.

In this context, communications and internet access have been completely cut off in Gaza, further aggravating the situation of residents who find themselves isolated and deprived of any means of communication with the outside world. This cut is all the more difficult to bear as access to communications had already been cut previously and gradually restored.

Faced with this crisis, the United States began discussions with regional leaders. President Joe Biden spoke with the King of Jordan to find solutions to calm the situation and reduce tensions in the region. For his part, Secretary of State Antony Blinken reiterated US support for Israel while calling for measures to minimize harm to civilians.

At the same time, Egypt is preparing to welcome 81 wounded Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, in the hope of providing them with the necessary care. This initiative aims to partially relieve pressure on already overwhelmed health services in the region.

The situation in Gaza remains very worrying and there is an urgent need to find a peaceful solution to this conflict. Innocent civilians on both sides continue to pay the highest price for this war and it is our duty to support and help them through this ordeal.
