The tragedy continues in Gaza as fighting intensifies between the Israeli army and Hamas fighters. Ground operations began on October 27, with Israeli tanks deploying on the edge of Gaza City. At the same time, aerial bombardments continue to hit the Palestinian enclave, with an intensity never seen before, according to our Observer on site.
Madhat Hajjaj, a journalist in Gaza, has been documenting the situation since the start of the war and regularly shares images of the wounded arriving at Al-Shifa Hospital, located in the north of the Gaza Strip. The images he posts on social networks, particularly on TikTok, show the devastating impact of the bombings on civilians. Victims suffering from severe burns, amputations, shrapnel wounds or loss of vision are frequently admitted to hospital.
Hospitals in Gaza, such as Al-Shifa and Al-Quds, are overwhelmed by the constant influx of wounded. Faced with a shortage of medicines and medical equipment, doctors sometimes find themselves forced to operate without anesthesia. Some hospitals were also directly affected by the bombing, leading to power outages and additional difficulties in patient care.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza has become critical, with more than 50,000 displaced people sheltering in Al-Shifa Hospital after losing their homes. According to a latest report from the Hamas Ministry of Health, the victims are numerous: more than 8,300 dead, including more than 3,400 children and more than 2,100 women, and more than 21,000 injured since the start of the war. It should be noted that these figures have not been independently verified.
This devastating war continues to tear Gaza and Israel apart, also causing significant losses on the Israeli side, mainly among civilians. As the humanitarian situation deteriorates further every day, it is urgent to put an end to this spiral of violence and find a peaceful solution that allows the inhabitants of Gaza to live in safety and dignity. The international community cannot remain indifferent to this humanitarian catastrophe and must redouble its efforts to obtain an immediate ceasefire and a lasting resolution to this conflict.
