Candidacy of Marie Josée IFOKU for the presidential election in the DRC

The political landscape of the Democratic Republic of Congo continues to be renewed with the announcement of the candidacy of Marie Josée IFOKU for the presidential election. As President of the Alliance of Elites for a New Congo (AENC), Marie Josée IFOKU is running for the second time in this election.

When submitting her candidacy to the Application Reception and Processing Office (BRTC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), Marie Josée IFOKU was received by the President of the CENI, Denis KADIMA KAZADI. This meeting was an opportunity for her to discuss the electoral process and her vision for the country.

The particularity of Marie Josée IFOKU’s candidacy lies in her concept of “kombolization”. This term, inspired by the word “kombo” which means broom in Lingala, embodies his desire to clean up the anti-values and bad practices that have marked the political history of the country. It puts forward the idea of breaking with the system of predation for a rebirth of the DRC.

Marie Josée IFOKU affirms that this vision of kombolization represents an opportunity for the country to escape from this system of predation and to allow the Congolese people to no longer be prey in the hands of their leaders. She will develop the five points of her vision in more detail at the next appropriate times.

In addition to her political project, Marie Josée IFOKU also expressed her confidence in the President of the CENI, Denis KADIMA KAZADI, by offering him her support in cleaning up the electoral institution and organizing transparent elections. She thus wishes to put an end to the legitimacy crises which marred previous elections.

The candidacy of Marie Josée IFOKU brings new impetus to the Congolese political scene, particularly as the first woman candidate in the presidential election. His vision of kombolization and his desire to break with the system in place can arouse certain interest among the population. It remains to be seen whether his candidacy will convince voters during the election scheduled for December 20, 2023.
