Price of acquisition of the new secure biometric driving license with chip in the Democratic Republic of Congo
The Minister of Transport, Communications and Opening Up, Marc Ekila, and his colleague of Finance, Nicolas Kazadi, recently signed an interministerial decree concerning pricing for the acquisition of new secure biometric driving licenses with chip in the Democratic Republic of Congo . This order aims to modernize and strengthen the security of driving documents in the country.
According to this decree, the Congolese rights company specializing in securities printing, OTOJUST, will be responsible for producing these new permits for all transporters in the country. This decision is part of a desire to fight fraud and improve the management of driving licenses in the DRC.
The new decree also establishes the acquisition prices of the new driving license. Thus, drivers of 2 to 3 wheel vehicles will have to pay 38.5 USD to obtain their license. For drivers of vehicles weighing 3.5 tonnes, the acquisition price is USD 71.5, while drivers of vehicles over 3.5 tonnes will have to pay USD 99.
It is important to emphasize that the distribution of revenue from the sale of driving licenses will be shared between the public treasury and the OTOJUST company, in accordance with the interministerial decree. This provision will make it possible to finance the development of driving license management and guarantee the quality of the documents issued.
The implementation of these new secure biometric driving licenses with chip is a significant step forward for the DRC. These modern and secure documents will make it possible to better control and identify drivers on the country’s roads, thus helping to ensure the safety of road users.
In conclusion, the interministerial decree on pricing for the acquisition of new secure biometric driving licenses with chips in the DRC marks an important step in the modernization and security of driving documents in the country. This initiative aims to fight fraud and improve the management of driving licenses, thus helping to strengthen road safety in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
