Do Iranians Really Support Palestine?
Since the start of the recent war between Israel and Hamas, the Iranian regime has organized several demonstrations in support of the Palestinians, displaying flags and minutes of silence in stadiums. However, it seems that these initiatives are not unanimous among the Iranian population, according to one of our Observers on site.
Indeed, although the Iranian regime publicly displays its support for the Palestinians, there are divisions within Iranian society regarding this issue. On the one hand, some Iranians feel solidarity with the Palestinian cause and support the actions of Hamas. They see the fight against Israel as legitimate resistance to occupation and oppression. The demonstrations organized by the regime are therefore supported by this part of the population.
On the other hand, there are those who question this official position of the regime. They believe that Iran should focus on its own internal problems rather than interfering in other countries’ affairs. Some also criticize Iran’s financial and military support for Hamas, saying the money could be better used to improve the country’s economic situation.
Furthermore, it should be noted that the public support displayed by the Iranian regime may also be politically motivated. Iran seeks to strengthen its regional position by supporting groups like Hamas, which oppose Israel and its allies. It is therefore a strategy to increase Iran’s influence in the region, rather than selfless support for Palestine.
In conclusion, although the Iranian regime publicly displays its support for the Palestinians, there are divergent opinions within Iranian society. Some people strongly support the Palestinian cause and the actions of Hamas, while others question this official position and believe that Iran should focus on its own internal problems. It is also worth considering the political motivations behind this public support, which aims to strengthen Iran’s influence in the region.
