“Conference-debate on good governance in the DRC with Jules Alingete – 2023”
The fight against corruption and the establishment of good governance in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were at the heart of a conference-debate organized by the Inspector General and head of department of the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF ), Jules Alingete. This event, which was held on October 26 and 27, 2023, brought together Congolese students and provided an opportunity to take stock of the progress made in this area.
Jules Alingete first took stock of corruption in public management since 2019 and highlighted the challenges facing the fight against this scourge. He highlighted the essential role of the IGF in this fight, in particular by ensuring the good management of public revenues.
The Inspector General also underlined the importance of strong political will to support this work to fight corruption. He affirmed that the power in place, embodied by the President of the Republic, is resolutely committed to this fight and supports the efforts of the IGF.
Jules Alingete then presented the progress made in cleaning up public finances. He highlighted commitment to the fight, the establishment of an effective repressive system and the existence of a competent judicial system as key elements to eradicate corruption.
Since President Félix Tshisekedi came to power, the IGF has been recognized beyond borders for its role in the fight against corruption and the eradication of criminal networks. This struggle is part of a desire for economic development that is palpable and accepted by all.
The conference-debate allowed students to become aware of the efforts made to establish good governance in the DRC and to see the future with optimism.
In conclusion, the fight against corruption and the establishment of good governance in the DRC remain major challenges for the country. Thanks to the efforts of the IGF and the political support it enjoys, significant progress has been made. However, there is still much work to be done to guarantee transparent and effective public management in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
