After having delivered and installed a marquee at the Stade des Martyrs de la pentecôte in Kinshasa, the Mediamages agency encountered difficulties in paying its invoice by the Congolese state. In fact, it is claiming an amount of 916,860 US dollars corresponding to the costs of installing the marker on an area of 160 m2, for a lifespan of 100,000 hours.
For the Director of Mediamages, Steve Konde Mabiala, the non-payment of this invoice hinders the smooth running of his business. Despite pre-financing from Mediamages, no payment has yet been made by the Ministry of Sports and Leisure.
Faced with this situation, Steve Konde Mabiala requests payment of his debt in accordance with the agreements concluded with the Democratic Republic of Congo. He recalls having responded to President Tshisekedi’s call by committing to working for the emergence of the middle class.
In an exclusive interview, the Managing Director of Mediamages expresses his indignation at this situation of bad faith. He urges the Sports Ministry authorities to take steps to ensure payment of the bill.
The Mediamages teams worked intensively to install this marker before the Francophonie Games. The costs incurred, particularly for the optical fiber, were covered by Mediamages. Despite this, payment has still not been made.
The law firm representing Mediamages sent a letter to those responsible for the Stade des Martyrs, informing them of the importance of the payment according to the terms of the contract.
This situation highlights the importance of supporting Congolese entrepreneurs in their development. President Tshisekedi himself expressed his desire to promote SMEs to create new wealth within the country.
It is essential that state services work in collaboration with entrepreneurs in order to encourage their growth and thus contribute to the emergence of a strong middle class.
The case of Mediamages also highlights the importance of respecting agreements and commitments made to businesses, in order to maintain an environment conducive to economic development.
It is now essential that the competent authorities take the necessary measures to resolve this situation and make payment of Mediamages’ debt. This will not only support this business, but also strengthen the confidence of entrepreneurs in the country and promote their development.
