“Sports betting in Kinshasa: a booming trend that is intriguing!”

Sports betting in Kinshasa: a growing phenomenon

According to a recent study conducted by Target SARL, sports betting is growing in popularity in the city of Kinshasa. Indeed, the study reveals that 32% of the inhabitants of the Congolese capital are fans of this type of game.

The survey, carried out among a representative sample of 2,365 people in each district of Kinshasa, highlights some key data. First of all, it appears that men are predominantly represented in this practice with a participation rate of 84%, compared to only 16% for women.

Furthermore, the study highlights that it is young people aged 18 to 24 who are the most active in the field of sports betting, with a percentage of 46%. On the other hand, seniors (50 and over) show less interest in this type of game.

Concerning the geographical distribution, the Funa district comes first with 32% of bettors, followed by the districts of Mont Amba (28%) and Tshangu (25%). The Lukunga district has a participation rate of 16%.

It is interesting to note that sports betting companies are multiplying in Kinshasa, thus attracting a wide range of players. These games, such as football, lotto, jackpot or even casino, arouse various passions among bettors, whether for simple pleasure or in the hope of winning the jackpot.

However, it should be noted that the game is prohibited for minors, therefore children under 18 cannot participate in these activities.

This study carried out by Target SARL provides an overview of the growing popularity of sports betting in Kinshasa. Although some see it as a simple passion linked to the sporting field, for others it represents a potential source of income.
