The installation of a high court in Idiofa: a pressing necessity to facilitate access to justice
In the territory of Idiofa, the question of the installation of a high court is becoming more and more pressing. This request is motivated by several reasons, including in particular the abandonment of numerous ongoing cases. Indeed, parties involved in trials before the peace court in Idiofa are forced to travel to the territory of Bulungu, located more than 250 kilometers away, for the second level of jurisdiction. This situation generates high costs related to housing, food, transportation, as well as legal fees.
In order to improve access to justice in the region, the new civil society of Idiofa is advocating the installation of a high court on site. This measure would help fight impunity and guarantee fair access to justice for all citizens.
Arsène Kasiama, coordinator of the new civil society of Idiofa, explains: “The high court is located at a distance of around 250 km. Litigants would prefer that this court be installed in Idiofa, where the infrastructure is already present. Many citizens abandon their businesses in Bulungu due to travel and accommodation costs. Leaving Idiofa represents a considerable financial burden. Idiofa is a large territory, with numerous court cases. We call on the Superior Council of the Judiciary to examine this issue .”
The Gungu territory also faces the same problem, being dependent on the Bulungu high court, located more than 300 kilometers away. This situation makes access to justice difficult for many citizens in the region.
It is essential to emphasize that the installation of a high court in Idiofa is not limited to a simple question of geographical proximity. It would also improve the efficiency of the justice system by reducing case processing times and ensuring faster and fair justice for all.
In conclusion, the installation of a high court in Idiofa is a pressing necessity to facilitate access to justice in the region. This measure would make it possible to fight against impunity, reduce costs for litigants and improve the efficiency of the judicial system. It is therefore important that the competent authorities examine this request in order to guarantee fair access to justice for all citizens.
