Joint FARDC-UPDF operation against ADF/MTM terrorists in Ituri province: a major success in the fight against terrorism
The armed forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) and Uganda (UPDF) recently carried out a major operation against the Democratic and Allied Forces (ADF/MTM), a terrorist group active in the province of Ituri. This joint operation, which took place in the localities of Ndalia and Mambelenga, was successful thanks to the use of attack drones.
On the night of Saturday to Sunday October 22, 2023, drones bombed a large gathering of jihadist terrorists in the Tingwe forest. According to Captain Anthony Mualushayi, the joint forces troops are currently in the middle of a census to assess the number of terrorists neutralized and the damage caused to their equipment.
The spokesperson for the operational sector Sokola1 stressed that the situation remains calm and under control. The civilian population can freely go about their business in this part of Ituri province. This joint operation represents a major step forward in the fight against terrorism in the region.
This success underlines the effectiveness of the collaboration between the FARDC and the UPDF in pursuit of the common objective of neutralizing terrorist groups which threaten the security of local populations. Through the use of attack drones, armed forces are able to carry out precise and targeted operations, thereby minimizing risks to civilians.
The elimination of terrorists and the destruction of their equipment will contribute to weakening the operational capabilities of the ADF/MTM and reducing their influence in the region. This will also strengthen the confidence of local populations in the security forces, who work tirelessly to ensure their protection.
It is important to emphasize that the fight against terrorism is not limited to military operations. It is also necessary to put in place socio-economic development and reconstruction initiatives to consolidate peace and prevent the resurgence of terrorist groups. By coordinating military actions with sustainable development programs, authorities can ensure long-term stability in the region.
The joint FARDC-UPDF operation in Ituri province demonstrates the determination of the security forces to put an end to the terrorist threat in the region. By working together, the two countries demonstrate their shared commitment to ensuring security and stability in the Great Lakes region. This enhanced cooperation constitutes an example of effective partnership in the fight against terrorism in Africa.
