Moïse Katumbi confident despite doubts about his presidential candidacy: Together for the Republic ready to fight for victory

The party of opponent Moïse Katumbi, Ensemble pour la République, remains confident despite persistent doubts concerning the validity of its candidacy for the presidential election in December 2023. Indeed, following the publication of the provisional list of candidates by the Ceni, some voices are being raised to contest the Congolese nationality of the former governor of Katanga. The Constitutional Court will have to give its verdict, but at the party headquarters in Lubumbashi, optimism reigns.

Members of Ensemble pour la République celebrate the validation of Moïse Katumbi’s candidacy by the Ceni. Activists express their relief and are already preparing for what happens next. Louise Kafwena, an activist, said: “We are celebrating but also preparing because there are big things waiting for us, including the publication of the final list.”

For Farha Tabu, another activist, it is a real victory for the Congolese people: “With the fight that we are experiencing, we believe that it is a victory for the Congolese people and we are happy for that.”

However, the party remains vigilant and attentive to the decision of the Constitutional Court. Opponents question the neutrality of judges and fear politically motivated decisions. Christian Mwando, Finance Delegate, appeals to the Constitutional Court to ensure inclusiveness and guarantee a fair and equitable electoral campaign: “We hope that this time, justice will allow inclusiveness as has been the case. was the case at the Céni level and that we are going to run a fair campaign and that the best one wins.”

The final list of candidates will be published on November 18, just before the start of the electoral campaign. In the meantime, the Ensemble pour la République party remains confident in the favorable outcome of this legal battle and is preparing to campaign to defend the ideals of Moïse Katumbi.

This electoral deadline is crucial for the Democratic Republic of Congo and the choice of the future president will have a major impact on the future of the country. Congolese citizens hope for transparent and democratic elections to guarantee a better future for their nation.

It therefore remains to be seen how the Constitutional Court will decide this matter and whether Moïse Katumbi will indeed be able to run for president. In the meantime, the suspense remains high and all eyes are on the final verdict.
