“EXCELLENTIA: A program of academic excellence in the DRC which offers scholarships to deserving students”

Today’s article highlights a program of academic excellence in the Democratic Republic of Congo: EXCELLENTIA. Organized by the Denise NYAKERU TSHISEKEDI Foundation, this program aims to reward students who have obtained at least 85% in the state exam by granting them scholarships to continue their university studies.

The event, which took place at the Pullman Hotel in Lubumbashi, allowed around 180 students from 20 schools in Haut Katanga to discover the EXCELLENTIA program. The President of the Foundation, Denise NYAKERU TSHISEKEDI, wanted to raise awareness among young people about the importance of academic excellence and the prevention of sickle cell anemia, the first genetic disease in the world.

During the meeting, the students were able to attend an educational presentation on sickle cell anemia, led by Doctor Kadhy NSINGI. The First Lady then encouraged students to get tested and contribute to the fight against this disease, which affects not only families, but also society as a whole.

EXCELLENTIA is an ambitious program which is deployed over a period of 10 years. It aims to award 1000 local scholarships and 100 international scholarships to deserving students. To date, the program is in its 4th edition, with 241 scholarship holders, some of whom had the opportunity to continue their studies in Morocco, France and the United States.

The participation of former scholarship holders during this event also allowed the students present to project themselves and see academic excellence as a real opportunity for success. The first step for future winners is to obtain at least 85% success in the state exam, a great prospect for young people who aspire to a bright future.

This EXCELLENTIA program perfectly illustrates the commitment of the Denise NYAKERU TSHISEKEDI Foundation to education and health. By encouraging academic excellence and raising awareness about sickle cell disease, the Foundation actively contributes to the training of future leaders and the improvement of health in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Young students from Haut Katanga thus had the chance to discover the opportunities offered by the EXCELLENTIA program and to be encouraged by the First Lady in their academic career. This meeting made it possible to reinforce the importance of academic excellence and to raise awareness about sickle cell anemia, two major issues for the development of the country.

In conclusion, the EXCELLENTIA program plays a crucial role in encouraging academic excellence and raising awareness about sickle cell disease in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Thanks to the scholarships awarded to deserving students, the program offers great future prospects to Congolese youth.. The Denise NYAKERU TSHISEKEDI Foundation thus continues to mark its commitment to education and health, by training the country’s future leaders and by fighting against genetic diseases.
