The reshuffle of the management team of the P-DDRCS program, recently announced by the President of the Republic, sparked strong reactions from civil society in North Kivu, South Kivu and Maniema. In a joint press release published this Friday, October 20, 2023, these structures expressed themselves with satisfaction following the replacement of the National Coordinator of the P-DDRCS, Tommy Tambwe Ushindi, by Father Jean-Bosco Bahala Okwibale Lusheke.
This change at the head of the program was welcomed as a response to the demands of civil society and the population of the eastern regions of the DRC, which have been hard hit by armed violence. For almost two years, civil society in North Kivu, South Kivu and Maniema has insisted on the importance of acceptance of the main facilitator of the P-DDRCS by all stakeholders.
The replacement of Tommy Tambwe Ushindi is seen as new hope for the effective implementation of the program. Partners who had previously given up supporting the project due to disagreement surrounding its leader will now be able to approach the new managers in order to determine their interest in the different sectors of the program.
Civil society in North Kivu, South Kivu and Maniema declares itself ready to support the P-DDRCS to establish peace, security and development in the east of the DRC.
