“Denise NYAKERU TSHISEKEDI Foundation: Promoting academic excellence and raising awareness of sickle cell disease among students in Haut Katanga”

These scholarships will allow students to pursue their university studies both in local establishments and abroad.

During the event, Doctor Kadhy NSINGI led an educational session on sickle cell anemia, thus raising students’ awareness of the harms of this disease and the importance of getting tested. The First Lady stressed the importance of prevention and the fight against sickle cell anemia, and announced that screening kits will soon be made available to students in certain hospitals in Lubumbashi.

The article also mentions the presence of the scholarship holders of the first edition of the EXCELLENTIA program, who were invited to serve as inspiring examples for future winners.

The EXCELLENTIA program, which is in its fourth edition, aims to award a total of 1,000 scholarships, including 100 internationally and 900 to local winners. To date, it already has 241 scholarship holders, including 82 who are continuing their studies abroad and 159 local scholarship holders.
