Reconstruction of the administrative building of the municipal house in N’djili and development of public spaces
The commune of N’djili, in Kinshasa, is preparing for a major transformation with the reconstruction work on the administrative building of the municipal house, as well as the development of two public spaces. This work, at a total cost of $15.3 million, is being carried out by the Chinese company WIETC and is expected to last 18 months.
The project includes the construction of a new municipal house with its surrounding area, as well as the renovation of the Municipal Youth Council building. In addition, a police station associated with the town hall and a sheltered pavilion with kiosks, a library, a Red Cross area, a cafeteria and public toilets will also be set up.
At the same time, Place Sainte Thérèse will benefit from landscaping, as well as the construction of sports and leisure facilities such as an event space, a central football field with stands, training rooms, changing rooms, an administrative area, public toilets, a multi-purpose room, a ticket office and a security post.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Public Works, Alexis Gisaro Muvunyi, stressed that this project is part of the Kin-Elenda program, aiming to make Kinshasa a modern and resilient city. He also recalled that this project benefits from an active partnership between the World Bank and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Indeed, the World Bank has allocated an envelope of 500 million dollars over a period of 5 years, as part of a programmatic approach over 15 years for a total amount of 1.5 billion dollars.
The Director of Operations of the World Bank stressed that the Kin-Elenda project aims to finance projects with a direct impact on the population, with the aim of eradicating poverty and promoting sustainable development.
Thus, the commune of N’djili, thanks to this reconstruction and development work, is preparing to put on its best dress and to offer its inhabitants modern and quality infrastructure. This transformation will contribute to improving the daily life of residents and promoting the socio-economic development of the municipality.
