The conclusions of the recent visit of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to the Democratic Republic of Congo were at the center of discussions during the meeting of the Council of Ministers chaired by Head of State Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi.
During the visit, an IMF team reviewed recent economic developments and the country’s economic outlook. The progress made in the implementation of the program supported by the Fund was considered encouraging and satisfactory, which makes the fifth review of the program all the more crucial.
President Tshisekedi stressed the importance of concluding this fifth review in a satisfactory manner, which would be a first for the Democratic Republic of Congo within the framework of programs supported by the IMF. This would give the country greater credibility in its quest for development.
Despite a difficult environment marked by the security situation in the east of the country, the government was called upon to redouble its efforts to implement the conclusions of the IMF visit and guarantee the success of the fifth review of the program.
The fifth review of the program will be examined by the IMF Executive Board in mid-December. It is essential for the Democratic Republic of Congo to successfully finalize this review in order to continue to benefit from IMF financial support in its development efforts.
Among the program’s achievements, we can cite the ban on access to cash at the Central Bank of Congo and the absence of monetary financing, which demonstrate the government’s efforts to ensure responsible financial management.
In conclusion, the IMF visit marks a crucial step in the development process of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The government must continue to demonstrate commitment to implement the necessary reforms and ensure stable and sustainable economic growth. The success of the fifth review of the program with the IMF will open new opportunities for the country and strengthen its credibility on the international stage.
