The importance of subcontracting in the private sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo was recently highlighted by the visit of the Director General of the Subcontracting Regulatory Authority (ARSP), Miguel Kashal, to the facilities of the Kamoa mining company, located near the town of Kolwezi. This visit is part of a mission to enforce the law on subcontracting in the country.
Accompanied by ARSP inspectors and a delegation of subcontractors from the Lualaba province, Miguel Kashal met Kamoa officials to discuss the secondary activities reserved for Congolese working in subcontracting, in accordance with the law in force.
The exchanges between the two parties were fruitful, and it was agreed to involve the subcontractors in the meeting in order to reassure them about the win-win partnership which will now be put in place thanks to the efforts of the Congolese President, Félix Tshisekedi .
The subcontractors present said they were delighted with the presence of Miguel Kashal, who represents them and defends their interests before the Head of State. They expressed their gratitude to the ARSP for its desire to enforce the rights of subcontractors and to make Congolese youth strong and independent.
This working visit to the Kamoa company only confirms ARSP’s commitment to verifying the application of subcontracting rules in all main companies and multinational companies operating in all sectors of the Congolese economy. . A team of inspectors is currently on mission in Greater Katanga for this second phase of control.
