Raising public awareness to make a wise choice during legislative elections is a crucial issue to ensure democratic and effective governance. It is with this in mind that the youth of the city of Kasindi, in the territory of Beni in North Kivu, launched a campaign entitled “Deputy usi tudanganye” (“Deputy, don’t lie to us”).
The objective of this campaign is clear: to encourage the population to choose deputies who will truly represent them and defend their interests. Fidèle Mutupeke, one of the members of this committed youth, explains that their intention is to awaken the conscience of the citizens of Kasindi so that they make a thoughtful choice and not influenced by false promises.
It is necessary, according to them, to vote for competent deputies, capable of developing relevant laws, of effectively controlling the government and of being true representatives of the population. This campaign therefore aims to fight against the manipulation and misleading speeches of certain political candidates.
The youth of Kasindi also calls on young people throughout the Beni territory to join this initiative. According to them, it is essential that the voice of young people be heard and taken into account in the electoral process. They encourage them to get actively involved in this campaign, so that MPs cannot mislead the population and so that everyone’s interests are truly represented.
