“Compliance controls in the DRC: ARSP strengthens transparency in local companies”

Under the supervision of the Director General of ARSP, Miguel Kashal Katemb, inspectors from the Agency for Regulation and Supervision of Posts and Telecommunications (ARSP) were deployed in the province of Lualaba in order to carry out compliance checks with the within companies. This initiative aims to guarantee the regularity of secondary activities and the quality of subcontractors whose contracts have been awarded.

The ARSP, in agreement with the vision of the President of the Republic Félix Tshisekedi, emphasizes the priority given to companies with majority Congolese capital. Thus, during his visit to Kolwezi, Miguel Kashal Katemb urged inspectors to enforce the Law on subcontracting, in particular with the mining company Kamoa.

ARSP inspectors are responsible for collecting various elements to ensure compliance with the Law. In particular, they request signed subcontracting contracts, information concerning the shareholders of subcontracting companies as well as business opportunities offered to Congolese entrepreneurs. These controls are therefore essential to guarantee transparency and promote the development of local businesses.

After Kamoa, the ARSP plans to extend these compliance checks to all mining companies as well as those operating in other sectors of the national economy. The objective is to ensure compliance with the Law on Subcontracting and to contribute to the President’s vision of economic independence long awaited by the Congolese.

This approach by the ARSP demonstrates the Congolese government’s commitment to promoting the national economy and encouraging the participation of local businesses in the country’s development. By ensuring compliance with laws and encouraging transparency, ARSP helps build investor confidence and create an environment conducive to sustainable economic growth.
