“The training of polling station members in the DRC: a crucial step for transparent and legitimate elections”

The training of members of the polling and counting stations of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) in the Democratic Republic of Congo is a crucial step in ensuring transparent and legitimate ballots. This training, which has just completed its first series, brought together 221 participants over 10 days.

Under the supervision of the Deputy Rapporteur of the CENI, Paul MUHINDO MULEMBERI, these participants, men and women, followed 21 modules taught by 18 facilitators and 9 supervisors. This training covered both practical and theoretical aspects, with regular assessments to test participants’ knowledge and skills.

Among the evaluations carried out, we find mid-term tests on the computer, oral evaluations in front of a jury, evaluations on educational activities and practical exercises on the use of the Electronic Voting Device (DEV) and voting tools. telecommunications. Participants also had the opportunity to study concrete cases related to voting, counting and compilation of results.

This cascade training, which consists of training members of polling and counting stations at the national level, is essential to guarantee the smooth running of the elections scheduled for December 2023. The participants, through their representative, expressed their gratitude towards the CENI for this initiative and are committed to transmitting their knowledge to the other branches of the commission.
