Title: The inauguration of a new customs post in Kasumbalesa marks the fight against fraud and modernization in the DRC

Introduction :

In his desire to fight against customs fraud and increase state revenue, the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, recently inaugurated a new customs post in Kasumbalesa, on the border with Zambia . This modern infrastructure, with an imposing building and equipped with the latest operational technologies, aims to facilitate the processing of customs files and accelerate the flow of vehicles. This initiative is part of a fruitful collaboration between the General Directorate of Customs and Excise (DGDA) and the company TRAFIGO SARL, managed by Magalie Kayitesi Raway, which has set up a 100% Congolese system aimed at maximizing customs revenue.

Modern infrastructures for an effective fight against customs fraud:

The new Kasumbalesa customs post includes a modern building of 2,600 square meters, housing customs services and equipped with the latest technology. In addition to this, an 8 kilometer reinforced concrete bypass road was built, as well as bonded warehouses, import-export parking lots and accommodation for customs officers. These new infrastructures will improve the processing of customs files and speed up the passage of vehicles across the border.

A fruitful collaboration to maximize customs revenue:

The DGDA carried out this project using its own capital, thanks to a partnership with the company TRAFIGO SARL. This Congolese company, headed by Magalie Kayitesi Raway, has developed a reliable and secure system for maximizing customs revenue at the Kasumbalesa post. Thanks to efficient software for traceability and collection of various taxes and fees, combined with transparent procedures integrated into the banking system, the DGDA has succeeded in significantly increasing its revenues. Indeed, from the first year of implementation of the system, revenues increased on average by 700 to 1,000%.

An example to follow in the fight against customs fraud:

The modernization of the Kasumbalesa customs post and the maximization of customs revenues are an exemplary success in the fight against customs fraud in the DRC. Thanks to the collaboration between the DGDA and the company TRAFIGO SARL, the secure channeling of State revenue has made it possible to increase the resources necessary to facilitate and streamline cross-border trade. This success proves that it is possible to effectively combat customs fraud thanks to reliable technological devices and transparent management of resources.

Conclusion :

The inauguration of the Kasumbalesa customs post marks a major step forward in the fight against customs fraud in the DRC. Thanks to the new infrastructure and the customs revenue maximization system put in place, the DGDA and the company TRAFIGO SARL have succeeded in significantly increasing State resources.
