In a context where mining companies are increasingly required to contribute to the development of local communities, Kibali Gold Mines stands out for its numerous achievements. Since its establishment in the Haut-Uele province 14 years ago, this mining company has been committed to implementing projects aimed at improving the lives of surrounding populations.

When it comes to community development, Kibali Gold Mines has focused its efforts in several areas such as education, health and development projects. In the area of ​​education and capacity building, the company notably selected and trained 30 women in the production of personal protective equipment (PPE). In addition, it distributed 158 school kits in partnership with local entrepreneurs in the villages of Gaako and Abimva. Kibali Gold Mines has also undertaken the construction of six different schools to provide a suitable learning environment for children in the area.

When it comes to health, water and sanitation, Kibali Gold Mines has made significant progress. Twelve water sources were tapped and thirteen wells were drilled to guarantee access to drinking water. Additionally, the construction of two mortuaries in Durba and Aru has improved funeral services in the region.

As part of the development projects, Kibali Gold Mines has also carried out numerous initiatives. Agricultural service roads were renovated, covering a total distance of 76 kilometers and thus promoting the development of local agriculture. Modern markets have been built in the villages of Moku and Nzopi, providing new economic opportunities for local populations. Additionally, an agro-industrial complex is being renovated, including a chicken coop with a capacity of 5,000 chickens and a mill for the production of animal feed for farmers in the community. This project aims to strengthen food security and promote economic development in the region.

Other achievements of Kibali Gold Mines include the construction of a 2 megawatt solar park, the launch of a 100 hectare cocoa project in Faradje, the renovation of community infrastructure, the construction of a community stadium in Durba, the organization of the Peace Fair and the construction of 15 boreholes in different villages to improve access to water.

In addition to its community development achievements, Kibali Gold Mines also engages locally. It implements the projects planned within the framework of the specifications, launches community initiatives financed by funds from the 0.3% endowment, renovates and builds community infrastructure, works on the resettlement of the Kalinva community and collaborates with local associations on agricultural projects.
