The Deputy Director General of the National Tourism Office (ONT), Paul Diakiese, recently carried out a mission to Lubumbashi in preparation for this event. This visit aimed to better understand the preparations underway, to discuss with local authorities and to mobilize the population around this week dedicated to tourism.
The Congolese Tourism Week 2023 will have the theme of promoting green investments in the tourism sector. This choice of theme reflects the DRC’s desire to position itself as a country committed to the fight against climate change, the protection of the environment and the preservation of biodiversity. The country also wants to make the tourism sector a major economic lever.
During his visit, Paul Diakiese met various stakeholders in the tourism sector in the Lubumbashi region, such as the director of the southern region of the ONT and the director of the Haut-Katanga Agency. This meeting made it possible to discuss the challenges and opportunities linked to tourism in the region, and to provide concrete responses to the obstacles encountered.
Local agents and executives took this opportunity to present their daily difficulties to the DGA. Paul Diakiese was attentive and reassured his interlocutors of all the support of general management in responding to them.
