In the heart of Africa, an ambitious project is being launched in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The ARISE Group, through its subsidiary ARISE IIP, has committed to investing 230 million US dollars to develop the Kin-Malebo industrial zone, located just 40 kilometers from the capital Kinshasa. This project, which is based on a public-private partnership, aims to boost the region’s economy and create nearly 20,000 jobs, including 8,000 direct jobs.
The location of this industrial zone is strategic, because it is located close to the international airport, thus promoting trade with the rest of the world. Covering an area of 514 hectares, the Kin-Malebo industrial zone will focus on key sectors such as wood processing, poultry production and beverages for the local market. In addition, it will host companies specializing in the pharmaceutical sector, plastic recycling, household appliances, electric vehicles and other processing industries enabling import substitution.
One of the strong points of this project lies in its energy supply. Indeed, the industrial zone will be powered mainly by current from the Zongo dam, with electricity production reinforced by the Menkao solar park, currently being implemented, and which will offer an additional 44 megawatts.
For the Minister of Finance, Nicolas Kazadi, the Kin-Malebo industrial zone illustrates the Congolese government’s desire to develop the country’s resources and promote economic development. This project, which is part of a broader vision of the “revenge of soil on subsoil”, aims to attract multi-sector and commercial investments worth an estimated $2 billion.
This initiative is a real opportunity for the Democratic Republic of Congo, because it will contribute to the creation of jobs, the diversification of the economy and the reduction of dependence on imports. It will also make it possible to strengthen the country’s attractiveness for foreign investors, by offering modern infrastructure and prospects for economic growth.
In short, the Kin-Malebo industrial zone represents a further step towards economic development and the structural transformation of the Congolese economy. Thanks to the investment of 230 million dollars from the ARISE Group, this initiative opens new perspectives for employment, industry and trade in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
