The Chris Ngal Foundation recently conducted an awareness campaign in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, aiming to inform and educate over 20 women and girls about their rights. This initiative, supported by the gender section of MONUSCO, addressed various themes such as early marriage, gender-based violence, gender equality, reproductive and sexual health, political participation and financial empowerment.
The Foundation’s coordinator, Chris Muakuya Ngalamulume, highlighted the importance of this campaign based on extensive research and consultations with women’s rights experts. It aims to identify and resolve the problems faced by women and girls in the Congolese community.
In addition to the organized workshops, the Chris Ngal Foundation also uses large-scale awareness-raising strategies to bring about a change in attitudes and behavior towards women. Schools and universities will also be targeted to reach more girls and inform them about their rights.
This awareness-raising initiative is crucial in a society where women often face obstacles and discrimination. By promoting women’s empowerment and gender equality, the Chris Ngal Foundation contributes to changing mentalities and guaranteeing a better future for all Congolese women.
