The standoff between Godé Mpoy, president of the Kinshasa Provincial Assembly, and the Ngobila administration continues to rage. Tensions are still high and no compromise has been found. In a new verbal clash, Godé Mpoy once again criticized the city governor, accusing his team of mismanagement and incompetence.
In a recent statement, Godé Mpoy recalled that people incriminated by the Provincial Assembly had 24 hours to resign. He also denounced the opacity in the management of the city’s resources, asserting that the financial authorities were filled with false accounting documents. According to him, the debt of the city of Kinshasa amounts to more than 150 million dollars, a debt which is not justified and which poses a problem for future administrations.
Relations between Godé Mpoy and the city governor, Gentiny Ngobila, have been tense for several months. Despite some signs of calm, the situation deteriorated further recently when Gentiny Ngobila filed a complaint against Godé Mpoy for defamation. The two authorities disagree over the management of the city’s resources and accusations of mismanagement and incompetence rage.
This standoff between Godé Mpoy and the Ngobila administration raises many questions about the management of the Congolese capital. The inhabitants of Kinshasa are waiting for answers and hope for a rapid resolution of this conflict to be able to benefit from transparent and efficient management of their resources.
