This Thursday, many newspapers report the establishment of a coordination group responsible for training the campaign team of the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi, with a view to his re-election scheduled for December 20 2023.
According to the Congolese Press Agency (ACP), a strategic commission is currently working to set up this campaign team. François Muamba, coordinator of this strategic commission and also coordinator of the Presidential Strategic Monitoring Council (CPVS), specified that the President’s campaign teams will be deployed throughout the country, in the 11 regions, 26 provinces, 145 territories and 36 cities.
Tina Salama, spokesperson for the President of the Republic, stressed that a team to coordinate campaign activities will be unveiled soon. She thus clarified the information which caused confusion and incomprehension following the press conference hosted by François Muamba.
For his part, the secretary general of the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS), Augustin Kabuya, admitted an error in communication and understanding surrounding the establishment of the campaign team. He assured that this team would be announced in the coming days.
This situation reflects the first official movements in view of the presidential elections, which will be held in 83 days. The political grouping Alliance for the Advent of a Prosperous and Great Congo has also demonstrated its support for the unique candidacy of President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, affirming that the Congolese people were fully counting on these elections to exercise their right to vote. in a democratic way.
The political grouping thus calls on the international community to support the institutions of the Republic in the electoral process, in order to ensure its successful conclusion.
