“Africa Cup of Nations: Morocco will host the 2025 edition, East Africa ready for 2027”

The next editions of the African Cup of Nations (CAN) were officially awarded by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in an announcement on Wednesday September 27. After the Ivorian edition of 2023, which will take place in January 2024, Morocco will host the competition in 2025. The Cherifian kingdom won the candidacy against Algeria, Zambia and the Nigeria duo -Benign. This announcement marks the return of the CAN to Morocco after 36 years of waiting since the 1988 edition.

As for the 2027 edition, it is the trio formed by Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya which has been designated as host of the competition, thus surpassing Senegal, Egypt and Botswana. This decision represents a historic opportunity for these three countries which have never hosted the CAN before.
